New Pick! The Lovely Bones

Amy Luft picked our 3rd Book Club Choice- The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
Once in a generation a novel comes along that taps a vein of universal human experience, resonating with readers of all ages. THE LOVELY BONES is such a book -- a #1 bestseller celebrated at once for its artistry, for its luminous clarity of emotion, and for its astonishing power to lay claim to the hearts of millions of readers around the world. Now in an audiobook edition read by the author, with movie tie-in art.

"My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973."
So begins the story of Susie Salmon, who is adjusting to her new home in heaven, a place that is not at all what she expected, even as she is watching life on earth continue without her -- her friends trading rumors about her disappearance, her killer trying to cover his tracks, her grief-stricken family unraveling. Out of unspeakable tragedy and loss, THE LOVELY BONES succeeds, miraculously, in building a tale filled with hope, humor, suspense, even joy.

We meet again on January 28th in Olathe to discuss the book.

Just started....

I just finished Castaways (because I was behind)!!!! Great choice!!! I just started "Lovely Bones" and I am not sure I want to continue. I really struggle with media, books, movies being about this type of thing. Should I go on does it get better when I get past this point? Sorry to post this I just wanted to hear other input.

Welcome to the New Girls!

Our 2nd book club meeting is this Thursday in Olathe @ Spin Pizza.  We have two more friends joining us this month; Breana Berroth & Shandal Loomis!  It's exciting to have more involved since we all have different taste in books.  It gives us the opportunity to broaden our "horizons" and read books we wouldn't otherwise have chosen!
I'm excited to see you all on Thursday @ Spin Pizza!
